Michell Gyro SE Turntable
Michell Gyro SE Turntable
MY TAKE:
The Michell Gyro SE turntable has been a customer favorite for years. Maybe it's the hypnotizing effect of the gold underhung platter weights as records spin, or the sexy good looks, but I'm betting it's the wonderful sound quality this rig produces. Have a listen and you're sure to be hooked!- Galen Carol
Michell Engineering have been building quality audio turntables in Borehamwood, England for nearly 40 years, making them one of the oldest manufacturers in the industry. When you purchase a Michell product, you buy into a company that prides itself on the ability to service and maintain its products for many years to come. The Gyro SE turntable, for example, has been around for over 30 years, and even its first incarnation can still be upgraded to the latest specification.
Michell turntables are precision instruments that are built to last and designed and to reproduce sound as close as possible to the master tape. The Gyro SE is the 'table that really fired the interest of American buyers. Price, performance and looks, this model has it all.
The Gyro SE is a variation of the GyroDec design. Doing away with the full size acrylic plinth and hinged lid of the Gyrodec and replacing them with a single acrylic spyder to support the turntable. This was done to reduce the overall size of the GyroDec and create a smaller more compact turntable.
REVIEWS:
Positive Feedback Online: "Once you hear the GyroDec SE Mk II (or rather, don't hear it), you know it’s going to be in your system for the long haul. With a naturally balanced cartridge, I have not heard reproduced music sounding closer to live than through the GyroDec. I don't see the need to spend more on a turntable, even after hearing the big boys at various high end shows. This turntable is designed to provide long-term satisfaction, and is most highly recommended." - Brad Morrical
HiFiChoice: "Sonically, the Gyrodec SE is right up there with the best."
Hi-Fi News and Record Review: “The gains in detail, space and neutrality over the generic LP12 sound made the extra insight available with the Gyro SE a worthwhile trade”
HiFiWorld: “It’s a powerful package of fine sound, peerless build and finish and genuine upgradeability – but at UKP*** it’s nigh-on unbeatable”

NOTES:
When the Gyro SE is purchased without a Michell tonearm, no armboard is included. Prices for a pre-drilled armboard varies, call us with the arm you plan to use for a quote. The required armboard has been included in our prices for the RB202-Special and TecnoArm. Add a Michell RB-250 or Tecno Arm at special package pricing!
