Wireworld Mini Eclipse 8 Speaker Cable
Wireworld Mini Eclipse 8 Speaker Cable
MY TAKE: Over the years we’ve come to appreciate the quality, performance and value offered by the Wireworld line of speaker cables. I can’t tell you how many cables we’ve tried in this price range, but none have matched Wireworld cables for performance and versatility. These cables have, what we term, very low system dependency (meaning they remain neutrally-balanced in most any system) which virtually guarantees a good fit in your current system, and won’t be out of place as you change equipment. In specific, The Mini Eclipse speakers cables strike a real chord with me by combining great performance at a very livable price point. - Galen Carol
Series 8 Upgrades
Series 8 speaker cables have more strand groups than Series 7, which strengthens the electromagnetic field that moves the signal through the cable. These upgrades improve clarity, dynamics, soundstaging and image focus.
The Mini Eclipse 8 is a real bargain! Basically a scaled down version of the outstanding Eclipse 8 (at less than 1/3rd the cost!) the Mini Eclipse 8 uses the same OCC 7N Copper conductors, just fewer of them.
Speaker cables may be the most misunderstood audio components. Many believe that using heavier gauge speaker wire will minimize audible losses, but that is not true. While increasing the thickness of a conductor does reduce resistive loss, which wastes amplifier power in the form of heat, it also increases inductive (electromagnetic) loss, which causes much of the degradation that we actually hear from cables. Clearly, an optimal speaker cable would minimize both resistance and inductance to preserve as much of the original sound as possible.
That simple answer is the basis for the DNA™ cable designs utilized in Wireworld speaker cables. The flat conductors in these cables are as thin as a single strand, yet there are enough strands to provide very low resistance, and all of the strands are completely parallel, providing the most direct signal path possible. Furthermore, for each design, the spacing between the two polarities is tuned to match the sound of a direct connection. The effect of that tuning is like focusing a lens, with the beautiful textures of live music coming into vivid 3-D focus when the spacing is just right.
The Mini Eclipse 8 features Wireworld’s unique Quad DNA Helix™ cable design and is beautifully terminated using Uni-Term™ interchangeable Silver Spade lugs or Silver Banana plugs.
CUSTOMER COMMENTS:
"Just a quick long-term follow up on the mini eclipse. This is just one really great cable. looking at the Wireworld description they referred to it as dynamic. And using this with a couple different low efficiency two-way mini-monitors it brings out dynamics I’ve never heard before, makes them sound like a larger high-efficiency speaker – wow. Thanks again" - George G.
REVIEWS:
Tone Audio: These days $500 for a pair of premium speaker cables is a reasonable, but not major, investment; however the Wireworld Mini Eclipse 7 speaker cables proved a valid upgrade, even in a system only worth about $1,000. As with any system, to reap the maximum benefit from any cable, make sure to optimize speaker placement and component setup before investing in anyone’s wire, so that you can more easily hear the difference. And no, a $500 pair of speaker cables won’t make your $600 integrated amp sound like a pair of Pass Labs Class A monoblocks–that’s not being fair. However, if you would like to take your current system to the next level, I highly suggest auditioning a pair of these at your local Wireworld dealer. You’ll be impressed. I’m impressed enough to buy the review pair for my Devialet system and to give these one of our Exceptional Value Awards for 2014. - Jeff Dorgay
